We sat down with Bec Judd to talk about her approach to living a healthy, balanced life. As a mum of four, Bec shares how she prioritises self-care, from creating energising daily rituals to embracing small practices that make a big difference.
She opens up about the role her Sunlighten mPulse Discover (four-person) Smart Infrared Sauna with Red-Light plays in improving her energy, sleep, and recovery and how it’s become a cornerstone of her wellness journey. What is your advice on living a healthy lifestyle?
It’s not rocket science but plenty of sleep, drinking lots of water, exercise and eating well is the best foundation for a healthy life. My Sunlighten infrared sauna is the icing on the cake.
Why did you decide to get a Sunlighten infrared sauna?
I was trialling one over summer and became addicted to them. I had so much more energy, enjoyed the post infrared sauna endorphins and found myself sleeping so much better. I also loved that I seemed to recover quickly from big nights out over the festive season. The positive impact on my wellness was extremely profound and I knew that we had to own a Sunlighten sauna for ourselves.
How has your fitness/wellness routine changed since becoming a mum?
I actually look after myself so much more since becoming a mum because I realise how important it is for my mental health and my overall wellness. I have four kids to look after so I need to be in good shape, plus I want to be around for a long time to see them grow and have a family of their own.
You have been using your Sunlighten infrared sauna for some time now, how do you incorporate your infrared sauna sessions into your weekly/daily wellness routine? i.e. before a workout, after a workout, to recover, relax, etc.
Some mornings I will preheat it using our Judd family program which I have custom designed. I will set my alarm for 6:30am and jump straight into the sauna for 45 minutes. This gives me a great kickstart to my day and has my energy peaking right through the morning and into the early afternoon. I will also jump in my Sunlighten infrared sauna after a netball game or my cardio tennis session. I’ve noticed that my recovery is so much better and I have far less muscle soreness and pain. I also use my infrared sauna after a big night out, especially if I have overindulged on the margaritas. I feel having a great detoxification session helps me to recover more quickly.
Are there any particular fitness or wellbeing benefits you have noticed since using your Sunlighten infrared sauna? It’s played a really big part in my immunity. If I’m feeling rundown or like I might be getting sick, I jump in the infrared sauna and (so far so good) I am yet to get sick.
What’s your longest-held wellness ritual and why?
At least eight hours of sleep at night for me. If I get a great night’s sleep, it sets me up for a good day. Since using my Sunlighten infrared sauna, I have noticed that my sleep is more deep and I can easily achieve my eight hours with minimal wake ups (unless of course my twins interrupt me by jumping into my bed!).
